Family Kingdom

One of the perks of our new hometown is an amusement park 10 minutes away.  And not just any theme park, an oceanfront park with local discounts.  Plus funnel cakes.  What more can you ask for?

We decided to take the kiddos one evening to see how they could handle it.   I'm sure it will be tourist central in a matter of weeks and I'm not the type to wait in lines with impatient kiddos and sweaty strangers.

Princess nearly had a meltdown before we even made it in.  She saw too many things she wanted and became overwhelmed.  She is definitely struggling with learning patience and delayed gratification.  We finally convinced her the fun stuff was at the back (kiddie rides) while walking swiftly, dragging her behind me.

Handsome was too small to ride the first one, however,  Princess couldn't wait to sit in the ladybug.  As it started to spin, she was a bit unsure, but once it was over she wanted to go again!  That's my girl!

Once she started, she didn't want to stop.  She rode two different ladybugs and was going for the bee when I convinced her we should check out the other rides.

So she road boats.

And trucks....

And some flying robot thing with a stranger....

We all climbed aboard the carousel as it was one of the few ones Handsome could ride with us.  Poor guy is two inches too short.  Nevertheless, he really wasn't so sure this thing that spins was going to be fun.  We even rode on the sleigh instead of on a horse because he didn't want me to put him down.  He was clinging to me the whole time, but at least he didn't cry.

Next up, was the train.  Both kiddos were excited to see the train, but once it was moving Handsome wasn't sure if he liked it.

Princess on the other hand, couldn't wipe the smile off her face.

It's quite interesting that the two kiddos react so differently.  Princess absolutely loved every moment while Handsome was terrified.  Hubby jokes that he tossed Princess around quite a bit as a baby, you know, throwing her up the air and catching her, spinning her around, etc.  He didn't do that much with Handsome.  Anyway, Handsome was too small for most of the rides, so we will have to wait and see if he changes his mind as he gets bigger or if simply doesn't enjoy thrill rides.  I hope its not the latter!  I am a bit surprised my baby girl is a thrill seeker, but I enjoy a good roller coaster so maybe we will have some fun mother/daughter dates in the future!

I remember at Christmas two years ago Ainsley kept having Mal and I spin her around and around by her arms. She loved it.
